This workshop, organised by IFLA’s Preservation and Conservation (PAC) Centre hosted at Qatar National Library, will examine the best practices in combating the trafficking of antiquities and the programs and policies that protect cultural heritage and property rights. It will discuss the laws and mechanisms that prevent the sale of conflict antiquities in the region and worldwide.

The speakers will share guidance on identifying and intervening to prevent the trafficking of cultural property. The presenters will also inform participants about relevant local, national, and international cooperation to combat trafficking in antiquities. The participants will also explore research and conservation techniques, funding mechanisms, advocacy methods, educational outreach efforts, and law enforcement strategies designed to protect cultural property and artifacts.

Discussions will explore how the public and private sectors can work together to counter antiquities trafficking.
